Welcome to RideANG

Congratulations to iPod winner MSgt Matthew Smith of Little Rock Air Force Base!
MSgt Smith had this to say regarding motorcycle safety:
"Riding a motorcycle is a wonderful past time and a fun way to get from point A to B. But there are some safety precautions that one should keep in mind.
Even though some states don’t require them, always wear a helmet. It doesn’t make sense to not wear one. In the contest between your head and the pavement, the pavement will always win. It could be the difference between walking away from an accident.
In my opinion, the motorcycle safety course should be mandatory for everyone wanting a motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license. I had been riding motorcycles for several years before attending this course. I thought I knew everything I needed to know about riding my motorcycle. I was amazed at the number of things that I learned. Anywhere from basic riding tips to collision avoidance. I distinctly remember hearing a member of the class, who participated in sanctioned races, stating he wished he had taken the course years ago."

Are YOU the next motorcycle fatality?
The Air National Guard suffered six fatalities last year due to motorcycle mishaps. This is a huge increase over previous years. Motorcycle riders now account for one out of every ten U.S. road fatalities each year – with motorcyclist deaths from traffic crashes rising each of the last eight years.
Together, ANG Safety, the ANG riding community and ANG supervisors, need to take action to prevent more unnecessary deaths. We’re asking for your involvement in a new initiative... RideANG.
We’ve created RideANG.org to promote motorcycle safety, provide Guardsmen with tools to make better personal risk management decisions, and offer tools to encourage commander support. We'd like to gather information from you, the riders, so we can determine where we need to concentrate our resources. Perhaps this survey can help us give you the tools to make better decisions.
